I hope to be practicing yoga for my entire life.  Yoga balances, flexibility, strength of the body and mind.  Yoga makes us adaptable in our physical body and our mental body.  Return to the roots of yoga to re establish the key parts of longevity in your practice –  buoyancy through the application of breath and bandha.  Re-assess your connection to Mulabandha and approach the practice of Surya Namaskara with new eyes, focusing on energetic movement, buoyancy, and meditation.   This workshop is suitable for all types of practitioners who incorporate Surya Namaskara (Sun Salutation) in their practice.  See the possibilities for lightness in the fluid movements of Surya Namaskara.  Includes chanting and meditation.

About the teacher:
Fiona Stang first journeyed to Mysore in 1999 where she met her teacher, Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharath Rangaswamy.  Fiona continued to study with Guruji to receive his teachings of devotion, grace, faith, compassion, patience, and yoga.  In 2000, Fiona was authorized to teach by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, and in July 2009, she was the first group of 40 students worldwide to receive Level 2 Authorization.  She is blessed by KPJAYI to teach the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga.  In 2006, Fiona met John Scott. His teachings and inquisitive nature have greatly influenced her understanding and teaching of Ashtanga Yoga.  Fiona is grateful for the community of teachers at AYV that support her practice and keep her teachings fresh and innovative.  Without Guruji, this would not be possible.  Thank you Guruji.

We have ongoing Introductory workshops!  This is the ideal way to start your ashtanga and learn the foundations of Ashtanga Yoga.

These workshops are suitable for the absolute beginner, those making the transition from other yoga disciplines, or more experienced practitioners willing to go back to the basics to shift practice habits and patterns.

Join us for one of the following introductory workshops.  We have one day weekend courses which include bonus Mysore classes on the week following the course.
