The initial steps of back bending are developed in the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga from the repetition of Upward Dog combined with the understanding of buoyancy in the standing and seated postures. These steps are essential to safely execute all types of backbends. In this workshop we will explore the preparations for Upward Dog and various basic backbends including salambhasana and urdhva dhanurasana.
